It's A Race To The Finish

I can't believe that baseball's regular season is coming to an end. No wonder football snuck up on everyone. Baseball was only a month into its shortened 60 game season, and we're already talking about a playoff race.

With only 4 days left in the regular season, it is still unclear which teams are going to be in the playoffs for 2020 in the National League. With only two spots to be decided, there are realistically 6 teams that have a shot at making the postseason.

5. STL 27-26 .509 (Central Second Spot)

6. MIA 28-28 .500 (East Second Spot)

7. SF 28-27 .509 (Wild Card)

8. CIN 29-28 .509 (Wild Card)

PHI 28-29 .491

MIL 27-28 .491

Anything can happen right now. The only thing that is guaranteed is that if the Giants make the playoffs they are a Wild Card team, because of the Dodgers and the Padres clinching playoff spots.

If I am being unbiased right now, I think for just entertainment purposes I want those last two spots to be the Reds and the Phillies. The reason why is because you should want to see Trevor Bauer in the postseason for the Reds. He is going to win the National League Cy Young Award and the dude is a damn savage. He is changing the game in every which way from having a personality on and off the field. Also who doesn't want to see "a bad mother fucker" in Amir Garrett throwing that nasty slider?

As for the Phillies, they have stars on that roster that need to be in the postseason. Harper, McCutchen, Arrieta, Realmuto, I mean that is a scary match up against any team. I know they are underperforming right now, but this is a weird season and anything can happen in the postseason.

But if I am biased then yes, I want the Giants in the playoffs. I don't even want the 7th seed. Give me that last spot and give me the Dodgers right now. Will we get killed? Probably. But again this is postseason baseball, and this is one of the best rivalries in the game. And yes, I will continue to dance on their graves with three world championships in five years thank you very much. Plus since it is a great rivalry, there will be a ton of baseball fans watching that series. It just sells itself.

But this race is not over, and it's the closest I have ever seen with this many teams still in it. It's still blurry to see who's going to be in it when it's all said and done, but be ready, anything can happen.
